We understand that every child learns: Behaviour by imitating others, Problem solving by creating stories, Social responsibility through team work. Compassion and understanding through role-playing

With these three points in mind, Stages understand that participation in our drama workshops, can only have a positive effect on those who participate, by providing them with a wide range of life skills that can not only be applied to a career in the arts, but also acts as support for any career your child may choose later on in life.

We aim to unlock each student’s confidence and individuality; encourage them to have a voice, an opinion and point of view. Theatre is all about solving problems and understanding real life behavior, we do this by generating discussion and awareness of a story (a play) and following characters questions to there logical conclusion, for every action, there is a reaction, as in life, this is true on the stage and in doing this we can learn a great deal about ourselves and the world we live in.

We often wonder why people behave in a certain way, or say certain things and drama gives us the opportunity to explore this in a practical and educational way.

As actors we must display and learn a great range of skills.

Every actor, regardless of age and experience, must acknowledge that the only “tool of the trade” they have is themselves. So with this in mind, we must constantly work on tuning and learning to play our instrument, which is our body, voice and mind and to do this we explore three fundamental creative disciplines (see Stage Skills)

As actors the continuing exploration and development of these three core skills are fundamental to our growth as artists.

In support of all our training we provide regular performance and work experience opportunities, so the student can apply what they have learnt practically in live theatre performances and also for the parents, friends and family to come along and share what they have been learning.
